Otep- They released their new album on January, 22 and she claims that it will be her last. Fans got to see their favorite band, along with some incredible opening performances in Sacramento at The Ace Of Spades Venue. The night started and ended with beautiful and powerful lead singers. As soon as Otep Shamaya took stage the crowd whent crazy, she had intnese vocals that really got the crowd in to it. The biggest mosh pit of the night happened of course during Otep’s set. The guitarist had a Bane mask, and the Bassist was rocking a Scarecrow mask, a tribute to Batman. Shamaya played her new song, “Apex Predator” off of her new album Hydra. She also brought out a pig head which she stuck on a pole while she played her fan favorite “Blood Pigs”. Otep said that Sacramento set the bar high for the tour, this was the first night of the tour, and it was evident because they had so much energy.

One-Eyed Doll- Was the surprise of the night, lead singer Kimberly Freeman alongside her Drummer, Jr. Had fans in an uproar of excitement. The lead singer came off as cute, innocent girl with a baby voice while telling her stories until they ended with cutting people up and burning things down. While singing, her baby voice was complemented with a surprisingly loud heavy metal voice. The band only consisted of Kimberly who sang and played on her Treagan brand custom guitar(her own unique model), and her drummer, and they showed they performed amazingly by themselves.

Picture Me Broken – They did an amazing cover of the song “Crazy On You” by Heart that really showed of the talent of Layla Brooklyn Allman the lead vocalist. The lead singer brought a lot of energy to the show.

Dead in Seconds- Were very loud and heavy. Their Bassist was tearing it up during the night and ventured in the crowd while preforming. They were the only band with a male lead vocalist of the night.

Fair Struggle- Megan Morrison the lead singer had a strong voice and clean delivery, she had a cold but that had no effect on her as she toughed it out and still put on a great show. They had great stage presence, their rhythm guitarist was handing out goodies, such as picks and stickers during the set. Lead guitarist used a wah pedal that had amazing range and tone.

A night like no other and one for the metal history books as 4 of 5 bands are fronted by women with loud metal voices. Anyone who thought that a chick can’t growl thought wrong these chicks show up most dudes when it comes to the heavy vocals and there energy on and off stage was amazing.

The female race is  clearly a major part of the modern day heavy-rock/metal scene.  If you don’t believe then you’ll have to go hear them for yourself, prepare to be rocked.
